I have no real issues with this movie... overall, it was fine. The plot was serviceable, the settings were interesting and well made, the characters were... above average. Overall thought, for a low budget movie, it was better than I expected. I thought it was a little bit boring at times, and there was no real typical "action scenes" but there was a lot of that whole " space nerve wracking silence" type of thing. I thought it was a pretty standard premise, but the alien that showed up in the last scene was pretty cool, but I felt it was a little underutilized. THe glitching effects were cool, but really my only gripe with the whole movie was that it was kinda boring. It felt like passengers for half of the movie, but without the action/tension of that film. Overall, I would give this movie a 7.2/10.

This movie was incredible, between the visuals, the story, the representation, the characters, even the setting itself, this movie was phenomenal. There was a short time near the start of the movie where I was a little confused because it was a kind of flashback, but it was all ironed out within the first 20 minutes or so. I can't stress this enough, I loved the symbolism of the red woven band the entire time. The fact that the band itself is about things being brought together(Musubi, as its refereed to in the film) as well as the fact that the Japanese believe that they are all connected to one another through a metaphorical red string. I loved the whole idea of them being trapped in different timelines to one another and how the idea of time was addressed in the film. I also think that I loved every single character. Tessie and Sayaka were great side characters whenever they were on screen, and I loved how Tessie was just the techie radio friend. The friends in Tokyo were also pretty enjoyable, but they did feel a little bit bland. Now the visuals.. OH MY GOD THE VISUALS. I watched Akira before I watched this.. and I think that this is infinitely more beautiful. The flashback scene near the end of the film nearly brought me to tears just because of how beautifully animated and themed it was.
As someone that has watched a lotttt of animated movies, but very few "Anime" movies, but I am glad that this is one of the first that I have ever seen. Every second of this movie had me gripped and interested... even through some of the more... interesting scenes, like when Taki first woke up in Mitsuha's body and.... was confused.... well say that. Overall, it feels criminal to give this masterpiece anything less than a 9.4/10 This... is a really strange movie, plain and simple. Despite that, I can see how this is easily top 3 most influential anime/animated movies of all time. The plot is a little strange and it feels like there are some things that aren't really explained, like how the little children people came around/why they look both 12 and 120 at the same time. Despite all this, This was still an excellent viewing experience overall. The visuals alone were absolutely stunning, the neon trails behind the bike lights were extremely eye catching, and I love how there were 50 different colors that were invented for the sole purpose of this movie, since it was mainly set at night when most animated movies were day/dawn set. I would say the only reason to recommend this to anyone is for the fact of watching the quintessential anime movie of all time. Overall, mainly due to the absolutely insane visuals and sound design, I give this movie an 8.3/10.
I cant recommend this movie enough. Plain and simple. This movie is phenomenal, and has aged incredibly well for a movie from ~5 years ago. The plot is so interesting too, even though it is not the most unique plot in the world, i'ts the way that every moment in this movie is executed so phenomenally and us just oozing with style. In my opinion, this is the best Vr alternate world movie of all time. Halliday's Oasis is just choc full of life and personality, little Easter eggs for game nerds, and references to older games too. The MC is enjoyable too, he is... just a normal guy going through the struggles of poverty with a video game as his one and only escape from his less than great situation. I have heard great things about the book, however I think that this movie is just so much better, which makes me a little scared to read it. Overall though, 9.3/10 movie
I have absolutely zero complaints about this movie. It certainly wasn't great, however it was pretty entertaining the whole way through. IT was about Adam Sandler talking to a giant spider about his marriage problems... so yeah take that as you will. The spider was really entertaining as a whole too, the way the is just an alien kinda exploring the universe and trying to see what humans like/dislike, etc, I think that the main reason that I loved this movie was just because it is in space though. I am an absolute sucker for space movies, be it this one, interstellar, 2001 space Odyssey, or even Zathura. The way that Sandlers character is portrayed as Insane and alone was chilling at some points, and I really just have to respect the performance that he put up for this movie. This was a really compelling movie and I think that it showed a phenomenal depiction of insanity due to loneliness, aswell as how being separated for X amount of time can cause any and all relationships, regardless of how strong, to drift apart. Overall, I would give this movie an 8/10. It is a definite good watch, and I cant not recommend it to everyone.
This was a really fun movie overall. It was plot wise just a collection of historical facts with the guise of hilarity and comedy, which was a really appealing idea to me. The characters were all really funny, and I think my favorite was the pun of Black Smith the Blacksmith. The puns were all pretty funny too, my favorite was definitely just "John 3:16" and "The pursuit of Liberty and stuff" that made me chuckle whenever they came out. There wasn't really a point in the movie that I didn't enjoy, but it is just a whole lot of crude comedy and its all very lowbrow. I cant give this a higher score than 7.9/10, even though I really enjoyed.
If I had to describe this movie in one word, it would be Insane. A High octane, fast paced insane racing movie that just poured pure action and balls to the walls speed into my eyes. The characters were all very enjoyable aswell. Sweet JP was by far the best though. Sonoshee was... ehh. she was a fine character, but felt a good bit underused. The Roboworld leaders/generals were great too, they always made me laugh or chuckle. But the best part of this was hands down the animation. The way that the cars bent the laws of physics while going... 300 km/H I think was phenomenal. The animation never failed to really emphasize the speed of the race with the stretching of the cars/characters, tears from pure wind speed, and blur. so much blur. If I had to base my rating just on these factors, I would give it an 8.5/10. But where this movie falls through is the Plot pacing. It feels rushed(no pun intended) in a lot of instances, and the plot kinda falls through. I feel like this really should have been a TV series instead, so that it would have had more time to flesh itself out and patch up some of the plot holes. Overall though, I would give this movie a 7.1/10
Saw this over the weekend (Saturday I think) with another friend, Quinn (his blog's here), and I personally really really enjoyed it! Comparatively to the other two Willy Wonka movies, I think this is the weakest of the three, but that by no means thinks that it was a bad watch. The musical elements made it for me aswell, they were all phenomenal. The music and Timothees singing was fantastic and really kept me engaged. "Scrub, Scrub" "Pure Imagination" and "Sweet Tooth" were all amazing songs. And the characters, oh they were all so unique. The corrupt cop, the chocolate monopoly, the workers that helped Wonka, I loved each and every one of them. Hugh Grant..... need I say more. What a perfect Oompa Loompa, his dry comedic approach made every scene with him enjoyable, but I do wish that he was a little more prevalent in the movie throughout. Overall though, it feels criminal to give this movie anything less than an 8.6/10.
This was a great movie. Plain and simple, I thought that this was a fantastic watch. The way that Chris Pratt plays his character is just phenomenal. The time where he is truly alone on the ship before he wakes up Aurora is such an incredible portrayal of loneliness and how it can drive a man insane. The way that over a year passed, yet it was condensed into 10-20 minutes was crafted beautifully. I also loved how the bar/bartender scenes were a clear homage to that of the bar/bartender scenes in The Shining. Jennifer Lawrence's character was played well aswell. Aurora was a decent character in my eyes, but I still think that Pratt's was superior in this movie. The shots outside the ship are drop dead gorgeous aswell. There really is not anything bad that I could quickly point out off the top of my head. 8.7/10
I thought that this was a relatively enjoyable watch. There was nothing that I could say specifically piqued my interest, but there wasn't anything that made me dislike watching it. The dance numbers were well choreographed, the music was relatively catchy, and the costumes were well designed and pleasant to look at. I would have to say that my favorite song was when the scarecrow was found. I loved the complexity of the crows and how the costumes managed to hold up while doing dances and mock flying. The song was pretty good as well, I found myself tapping my foot during this number. The acting for the most part left a little to be desired though. I thought that at some points it could really use some work, but also that there were some phenomenal acting moments. In particular, the TinMan comes to mind. His robotic dances/movement was always awesome, and the moment when Dorothy met him was genuinely incredibly impressive. The fact that he could produce such robotic movements while also being human in a sense takes a ridiculous amount of skill and practice. If I had to say a favorite character for me it is definitely the Tin man, every single scene involving him had me genuinely engaged and really had me focused on the scenes with him, more so than the ones focusing on the lion, the scarecrow, or dorothy. Overall though, I would say that this isn't a movie i would watch again, just because i'm not a huge fan of the wizard of Oz as a while, but it was an enjoyable watch overall. 7.1/10
